But like a strong-willed person that she was, Maeve deflected her attacks with her healing powers. The more Kaela tried to break her confidence, the stronger her will became. Giving up would only providing them the reaction they wanted.

That was when The Culling arrived and Maeve’s position sank deeper into the danger of being wolfless. They put her into the test where Kaela and other wolves have the privilege to kill her on the spot.

The only way to beat them was for her wolf to come out and save her from the beating. Knowing his father won’t budge even if she died there, Maeve prayed for the Moon Goddess’s assistance. Saxon watched her, already on the verge of intervening.
