The Vicious novel on Goodreads has some mixed reactions and reviews from the readers. Some don’t like how the male lead, Vicious, was written. They are complaining about his attitude and questionable life decisions—and why Emilia is still keeping up with his childish and immature antics.

Vicious’s Personalities and Reasons

As mentioned in the reviews, readers mostly rant about Vicious. ReelShort fixed that problem for us. They didn’t erase what made Vicious Vicious, but they made sure to incorporate a backstory telling in some parts. In the book, Emilia is a starving artist. However, in the Vicious full movie, she is a waitress who’s about to lose her job. This tweak is in line with the past and the future plot that’s about to happen, and actually solves a tethering plot hole.

Emilia leaves the town for money for her sick sister. If she’s a starving artist, where would she get the money for her sister’s medical bills? She’s not being paid enough to be able to support her sister.

Being a waitress gives a sufficient and logical reason for accepting Vicious’s offer in the present without looking like a hypocrite. At least with this kind of job, we could relate to the struggle.
