Making friends was something that came off extremely difficult for the little girl that Claire Watts, the heiress of the Watts family, was several years ago. While she was amiable and very friendship hungry, her mates had been prone to envying her a lot. There were several reasons to do so, as she was always the wealthiest girl in any schools she attended. She was a princess…

And not only was she the wealthiest, she was also exceptionally pretty and outstandingly brilliant. But one thing that girls disliked was another girl whom they cannot outshine. Because of her outstanding features, Claire was constantly involved in unsolicited squabbles about boyfriends and play mates. How could they be friends with her when the boys preferred her over others.

But there was this one girl who seemed to be different. Her name was Edith Hanson, she was also a new student at the private high school where Claire had just been recently enrolled. Claire would not have been a society reject if the girls had felt any less intimidated, but Edith seemed to be suffering exactly the same as herself from a different perspective. She wasn’t so pretty…

Not only was Edith not as pretty as everyone else, she was also from a middle class family. Simply by looking at her, other girls could tell she was from a struggling background. While they dressed in quality outfits and carried designer handbags, it was easy to tell that Edith shopped at the thrift store. From offering Claire a seat by her side at the cafeteria, a friendship started.

Gradually, Claire and Edith became inseparable. Because Edith understood the societal differences between herself and her new friend, she made herself useful to Claire. And over time, she would become an important aspect of her life. Claire took her home, granted her a lot of privileges, to the extent that she convinced her parents to include Edith in a scholarship scheme.

This was so that she could attend the same university with her only friend, and when they graduated and she became the CEO of Watts Group, her family’s company, she appointed Edith as her personal secretary. All this numerous benefits and without Edith qualifying or soliciting for it. But Edith Hanson nursed a wicked envy against Claire Watts and would attempt to switch their babies at birth.

Claire Watts

Claire Watts was one the female leads of Was the Heiress Switched at Birth movie. This lady played the role of an only child and therefore heiress of the Watts family. The Watts family had made their money in the automobile business and were reputed as one of the wealthiest families of America. They’d build the Watts Group from scratch and passed it on from generations.

It became Claire’s turn to be CEO after she graduated from the university at the age of 25, and as the best graduating student from her department in Harvard. Appointing her best friend as her personal secretary was due to the fact that Edith always helped her in areas where she needed it. Little did Claire believe that the little little issues she happened to encounter from time to time, were engineered by her best friend.

Edith Hanson

Edith Hanson was the other female lead of Was the Heiress Switched at Birth movie. Edith aced her role as a conniving, abusive and conspiring little witch of this amazing movie. She brought fire to the scenes, displaying what it looked like in every abusive parent. She was the girl who’d gotten used to not having much while growing up, but contentment was one quality her parents had forgotten to teach her.

While she worked for Claire Watts in the backgrounds, she envied the living day light out of her. Deep down, she questioned God as to why it was Claire Watts who got to be a princess, an heiress and become a CEO at the young age of 25. Why didn’t he spread out all the nice things, so that girls like her could merry in one. Claire happened to have everything Edith couldn’t, and even though she shared, Edith hated receiving.

Lucy Hanson & Phoebe Watts

Lucy Hanson and Phoebe Watts were supporting characters for both Claire Watts and Edith Hanson. Claire and Edith had gotten married. While Claire had been settled into the home of the second son of another wealthy family, Edith had married the man who agreed to join her in her life’s mission of bring Claire and the Watts family down. They’d both simultaneously gotten pregnant…

And happened to have also simultaneously given birth to daughters at the city hospital and in the same maternity ward. Lucy was Edith’s daughter and Phoebe was Claire’s. Claire had noticed a tiny birthmark on her daughter’s wrist immediately after birth. Which was why after Edith and her brother switched the children, she was able to identify which was hers and switched them back.

Edith Hanson had lost her husband to an accident just about four months before their baby was born. Because she’d married someone from her class, he’d come off as jobless and less educated. But Claire had offered him a job in Watts Group as her personal driver. According to Edith, he’d died before he could sabotage Claire’s vehicle to arrange for her sudden death. It would seem that a timely karma had caught up with him.

But because her husband had died while on duty for her company, Claire felt she owed it to his wife and newly born daughter to take better care of them. Viewers would watch as she appealed to her husband on their hospital beds, to purchase the house next to her mansion in the expensive estate where they lived for Edith. This was so that they could raise their babies as sisters. But little did she know she’d worsened Edith’s vexation.

Claire had fallen asleep, resting from a long day of labour and child birth and would open her eyes in the middle of the night, to discover that her baby’s cradle was empty. Understanding that the nurses could have transferred the babies to the hospital’s nursery, she decided to go and check there. Edith Hanson’s hospital bed and her baby’s cradle were also empty. She would be shocked by what she witnessed at the nursery.

Was the Heiress Switched at Birth holds a lot of lessons for young mothers. It also holds a few warning for abusive parents. Because we would discover that in the end, after eighteen long years of torturing the child in her house, to the extent of denying her some education while her mates were making waves in the society, she would discover she’d only brought ruin to her own flesh and blood. And if there’s any consequence that results from being abusive to your children, it is that they would grow to despise you and probably treat you worst in retrospect. Children are just mini adults and even if they pretend to not know what’s going on, they actually do and would remember in due time.
