Born as the precious mafia princess, Annika Volkov thought that everything would go her way. When she turned 18, savage news broke her heart. It turned out that her controlling parents were pushing her to marry Dmitri Morozov, a ruthless ruler of the Chicago Outfit. However, she was not someone who would be easily manipulated.

Since she was still one month away from the wedding, she had to find a way to get out of that filthy situation. She could not let her parents dictate her future, knowing she had a bad intuition towards Dmitri. One fateful night, while she was sleeping soundly, she heard a loud knock on her door. It was Dmitri, wanting to violate her and take away her virginity.

Annika was shivering in fear, not knowing what to do. In the next second, she saw a mysterious man barging into her room. He took her hand and helped her escape. As soon as Dmitri opened the door, Annika finally left. Right at that moment, she was thankful to that man and embraced him tightly, only to find out that he was Creighton King, the most influential man on campus.

Creighton King was the handsome yet ruthless male lead of this short drama. Always emotionally unavailable and stubborn, he aimed to avenge his late father’s death. Upon his pursuit of justice, he found Annika and was unexpectedly captivated by her charm. Although he pretends to ignore her, only to find himself falling for her and protecting her with his life.

Beneath the notorious role of Creighton was the talented American actor Armand Procacci. He was also a musician and dancer who graduated from Columbia University with his degree in Financial Economics. 3.1 The Unexpected Rescue

Don’t miss watching this marvellous scene! When Annika was helpless, she did not expect that a ruthless man like Creighton would save her. Luckily, she was able to dodge Dmitri’s hideousness and preserve her purity for the man she loved. Although Creighton had all the reason to hate her, he still chose to keep her safe.

In this particular episode, it was shown how good Creighton was. Behind his rough exterior was a heart that was willing to understand. His decision to rescue her revealed that he was the only person she could turn to since her own family already sold her to Dmitri. This scene also established their enemies-to-lovers relationship.

3.2 He Refused To Marry Her

One more thing you need to look at in this vertical short drama was when Annika showed her interest towards Creighton. The first time, she already felt that spark between them. Upon watching God of Pain, we can get some good lessons about romantic relationships. Annika’s arranged marriage to Dmitri showed that love could not be forced. Because being involved with someone else must come from free will and not from pressure. In the story, Annika felt that it was just part of an obligation, which made her want to escape.

In truth, a relationship should not be built on fear. Since we are in the 21^st century, arranged marriage is no longer a thing, except for some traditional sacred habits. Real love allows people to grow and choose based on what their heart really wants. Because if it’s from coercion, it is not love at all. 4.2 Take Away The Pride and Ego

In this wonderful mafia story, Annika and Creighton’s journey was not an easy one. Their biggest obstacle to a happy ending is his egoistic nature. His anger and desire for revenge hindered them from opening up their feelings. At first, he was afraid that his feelings for her might stop him from getting his goal, which was to kill Adrian.

This caused Annika to also question her worth. In reality, healthy relationships require humility and willingness to adjust. Love does not mean losing your values. It is about resolving the differences between you and your partner. Creighton’s journey in dealing with his past issues showed how a person can get out of being trapped by choosing compassion.
