Part 1: What Is A Blind Date with my Mr Meant to Be Movie All About?

A Blind Date with my Mr Meant to Be is about two adults who’d previously met each other over social media. His name was Phil, Ellie had met him when she opened a direct message on a dating app.

He was so funny that gradually Ellie began to enjoy texting with him. The discussion was general, but gradually it began getting deeper. Phil was 28 and Ellie was 26. Phil was a millionaire and had the body to prove it.

Ellie would complain about everything she didn’t like and he would listen attentively, making understanding remarks, which continued to lead her on. She was a fashion designer and about to relocate to the city to live with her college roommate.

It had been two weeks of texting and her flight was scheduled for 2pm today. She was sitting on a bench, waiting her turn to be checked in, when a male voice with such a nice accent spoke from behind her.

The man had lowered his head enough that his lips were almost caressing Ellie’s earlobe. And when she turned around in amazement, with lips slightly agape… his lemon-scented breath permeated her face. Taking a closer look and recognizing the face she’d grown used to seeing over FaceTime made her euphoric.

Phil explained he was on his way to New Orleans —a city close to Pune, where Ellie was headed. How his job took him far and wide, keeping him constantly on the move. Said his flight was also scheduled for 2pm.

Ellie explained she was a recent college graduate and that her work had just been accepted in a multinational fashion house. She was relocating for that purpose. Fashion was her hobby, but she’d studied Catering.

Phil, therefore, offered her a job as a manager in his 5-star restaurant, which was located in New Orleans. He would subsequently call severally times to encourage Ellie to pursue a career in catering and would succeed in inviting her for an interview.

It was against everything Ellie stood for, but she’d fallen head over heels in love with Phil during the one hour they spent at the airport’s waiting area.

But what happens when she abandons her new job and travels for an interview at Phil’s 5-star restaurant in New Orleans?

Veronica Concepcion played the role of Ellie. She was a 26yrs old fashion designer. She was exceptionally pretty and had an attractive aura. She had a personality where everybody knew she was exceptionally attractive except Ellie herself.

She was timid and her timidity robbed her of several opportunities to have a proper relationship. She was the very focused type and could pass as a nerd. She’d studied Catering in college, but having been born to a tailor, tailoring was her hobby.

It was one hobby she’d perfected and would design a master piece which was accepted by a multinational fashion company. She’d met a Mr. Phil over the internet and had run into him at the airport.

Asher Fawad as Phil

Asher Fawad played the role of Phil. He was the male lead of A Blind Date with my Mr Meant to Be. He was 28, tall, bulky and good looking. Judging from his physical appearance, one could tell he was a millionaire.

He was exquisitely dressed in casual attire when he bumped into Ellie at the airport, and before speaking to her, he’d applied a mouth spray in his mouth.

His physical appearance, nice aromatic breath, and well-accented speech… coupled with the fact that he’d met the young lady over FaceTime, gave him a one-way ticket into her fragile heart.

Phil was a renowned businessman and carried himself as such. Today, his flight won’t be taking off and Ellie would call after taking her seat to sympathize with him. All was going according to plan.

Part 3: Breaking Down A Blind Date with my Mr Meant to Be Movie Plot Twists

Love At First Sight

Phil wasn’t exactly good looking, but he was charming and had the muscles in the right places. He was handsome in a beat-up kind of way. But what he lacked in facial appearance he had in character.

He knew exactly the right things to say and gradually, the very articulate Ellie began to feel comfortable discussing with him. The fact that the chances of physically meeting this man seemed very little made her more open with facts.

Laughing came easily to the two and they would Facetime long into the night before saying goodbye. Now, imagine running into this man at the airport, with him being right in all the right places and looking like a casually dressed millionaire.

Ellie couldn’t help but fall in love. As the days passed, the effect of it was that she started thinking it was divinely orchestrated, considering she was too unapproachable to meet a random boyfriend.

Impersonation

Phil had not originally intended to build a character for Ellie, but along the line as they discussed over Facetime and texts, he understood her fantasy for the kind of man she would like. He therefore, began taking every opportunity to convince her he was rich.

It wasn’t too hard to believe as he was constantly in nice looking backgrounds each time they Facetimed. That, plus the way he carried himself and his manner of gentle approaches and speeches.

He’d been shocked at the airport to hear that Ellie was a Catering graduate. That was an information he didn’t originally have.

He therefore improvised with claiming to also own a 5-star restaurant in New Orleans, where he hoped Ellie would desire to pursue her actual dreams of being a Caterer.

Deception

The long and short of it was that Phil was a con man. He’d gathered information about Ellie before texting her the first message which had unraveled the movie. He’d been attracted to her because she was beautiful.

Having conned many women over the years, Phil was convinced he was ready to settle. He thought his ticket to retirement was Ellie. She was going to be the one woman he wouldn’t need to con.

Because she’d fallen in love, Ellie had decided to abandon such a promising opportunity in the fashion house. She’d surmised that a management role in a 5-star restaurant could measure up to whatever she stood to lose.

That, plus the fact that she’d met the man of her dreams, what better place to relocate to than New Orleans? She accepted Phil’s invitation and  would get on a train to New Orleans.

But what happens when on arrival, Phil’s actual identity began to unravel? When the restaurant was owned by the friend who’d paid for his flight ticket, when she was to be a waitress and only as a favour to Phil?

When finally, Phil was not all he’d claimed but still desired her love willy nilly?
