Rick was finally freed, but was crippled. Yet he was so disappointed in the man that Cole became. Back when he was younger, he was once a well-known fighter pilot in the Navy. With that, he could not accept the fact that his son ended up as an ordinary cleaner. One day, while Cole was mopping the floors of the simulation room, he had a brilliant idea.

He tried to fly the simulator and passed the most difficult test. The admiral was impressed and had him included in the Top Gun trials contenders. However, Rick was not happy about it. When he saw that his rival Senator Tony Dubois was involved, he could not let his son be cheated on.
