Chapters is a top-grossing narrative game featuring stories reimagined and brought to life on your mobile device!

In this role, we are looking for several full-time, superstar Story Editors/Narrative Designers to work on a successful narrative mobile game with our remote team. You'll be working with a team of other story editors and freelance contract writers to adapt licensed popular fiction stories into interactive narratives that target a young female audience. This position involves extensive editorial work, a good amount of creative writing, and tasks related to formulating the creative direction of the selected stories. This position is open for BOTH onsite and remote opportunity and we would like to encourage applicants with a literary background or gaming industry experience to apply!

This position is a remote opportunity and open in the following states: CA, NY, CT, UT, WA, FL, PA, TX, MA, MI, IN, GA, or VA.

The ideal candidate possesses the following:

1. Strong Editorial Skills--minimum of 3 years experience in established industry for novels/publishing, gaming, television, film, etc.

2. Strong creative writing skills

  • At least one professional writing credit. This can be a published book, a purchased screenplay, work on a released video game, work on published novels etc.
  • Ability to utilize stories and testimonies to create inspiring communications and create emotional connections with potential and existing audiences
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Write clear, engaging copy for different needs - long form, short form, tag lines, campaigns, e-newsletters, brand and style guidelines, etc. Bring strong conceptual ideas to life in a clear and concise manner.

2. Good gameplay skills and the ability to identify design and content issues

3. Comprehensive historical and current knowledge of the game industry for both the home and arcade markets helpful

4. Copywriting/copy editing experience highly desirable

5. Passion for working in a gaming industry and past experience would be an asset

6. Relevant work experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in informational or promotional writing with a portfolio of samples
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a professional work environment
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in fine arts, communication, or related field
  • Must be comfortable writing contemporary romance for a young audience
  • Experience working with either screenplay or prose writing

7. Experience working creatively and collaboratively with a team

8. Excellent written communication skills

Our studio located in the heart of Silicon Valley, is looking for a Bilingual (Mandarin speaking) Project Manager to support our growing team projects. A strong candidate would be someone who has 2-4 years of experience in a project management role, preferably in a gaming or entertainment industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to effectively manage projects under strict deadlines
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with global teams in various time zones to manage projects from scheduling to launch
  • Plan resource needs and coordinate across teams to secure pipeline
  • Ensures timely and consistent communication to stakeholders on status, scope changes, and resource impacts
  • Ensure quality and consistency across projects with brand guidelines
  • Streamline processes on various projects for efficiency
  • Able and willing to work from our Sunnyvale, CA office once COVID restrictions are lifted

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Project Management related field
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in a project management role
  • Strong Mandarin and English communication skills (written and oral)
  • Flexibility with schedule to work with a global team
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment wearing multiple hats
  • Mobile Gaming industry experience preferably in Game Design, Game Operation or Game Localization.
  • PMP or Sigma certification preferred
  • Startup experience is an asset
  • Experience with any Project Management tool is an asset

Our studio located in the heart of Silicon Valley, is looking for a Bilingual (Mandarin speaking) Content Operations Associate to support our growing team projects. This role requires working closely with a global team across different time zones, including Canada, Mexico, and China. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in writing and must possess adequate knowledge in Mandarin in addition to having strong problem solving skills.

  • Ability to coordinate and work collaboratively with global & cross functional teams across various time zones to manage projects from scheduling to launch

As an HR Generalist, you will be a crucial part of the team here at Crazy Maple Studio, Inc. This role is a true startup environment generalist position with responsibilities that span people operations, talent acquisition, benefits administration, compliance, HRIS, performance management, facilities, and so much more! An Ideal candidate would be someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, wearing many hats, and driving a startup culture with positive results.

This role reports to the HR Manager and will be on a hybrid schedule based out of our Sunnyvale, CA headquarters. You should expect to work at least 3 days per week from the Sunnyvale office once the office reopens in January.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify the team’s hiring needs
  • Manage an end-to-end recruitment cycle including assisting managers with job descriptions, job postings, recruiting, interviewing, and facilitating the hiring of qualified job applicants
  • Assist in managing the employee performance evaluation process and pay appraisal proposals
  • Create and streamline processes to manage contracts with authors, publishers, and freelancers
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices
  • Review policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Maintain the HRIS system, BambooHR, for confidential employee files and records, time off requests, leave of absences, reimbursements, and analytical reports

  • Manage general office administration - responding to mail, stocking office supplies, maintaining kitchen supplies

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience as an HR Coordinator or Generalist, preferably in a startup environment
  • 1 to 3 years of experience as a Recruiting Coordinator or Sourcer
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Comfortable interacting with all levels of employees including the senior management team
  • Good general understanding of employment laws and regulations
  • Proficiency working with an HRIS system, preferably BambooHR
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Willing and able to work from our Sunnyvale, CA office
