The Introduction

Hate to Love You is a recent ReelShort release that falls into the category of campus romance for its idealistic portrayal of college and the dynamics between the students. The story revolves around Kennedy Clarke, a freshman at a private university, and the unknown sister of a popular football player named Gage Clarke. Aside from the two of them, no one knows they’re related and it’s Kennedy’s rule when she agreed to join him.  

Her fear to be known as his little sister stemmed from her traumatic experience with a boy named Parker Stanton from her previous school. Hannah Lowery leads the Hate to Love You cast as the actress who portrays Kennedy Clarke. Her performance carefully establishes everything to love about Kennedy. Starting from her resilience, her feistiness, and her ability to stay responsible in situations that require more than patience.

Hannah crafts Kennedy’s strengths through certainty, letting them show all at once, and burying her supposed weakness behind it. Blake Manning also leads the Hate to Love You cast and he’s the actor behind Shay Coleman. Known for his multiple appearances in famous TV shows and vertical dramas, Blake’s presence in the movie is a stunning mixture of curiosity, intensity, and undeniable charm. It’s not a surprise to see him acting in a ReelShort drama but it’s definitely a new experience to witness his talent unfold.

He loved her without condition. He cherished her well-being in spite not receiving the same energy from her.

That explained why he didn’t complain when she forced her to deny her as his sister. He was traumatized by the past, too, and his fear of losing Kennedy erased all of personal reservations to her decision.

Carter Moczan’s role might not be as dominant and attention-grabbing, his performance constantly makes his presence hard to ignore. It’s a combination of quiet confidence, unchecked immaturity, and overprotectiveness that functions as one of the story’s conflicts, too. He’s outwardly talented and we’d absolutely love to see more of him in the future.

Daniela Leon as Becca  

Daniela Leon is part of Hate to Love You movie and she’s the actress behind Becca, the first mean girl to bully Kennedy, and one of the jealous students to conspire against her. She’s a desperate, insecure woman who thrives on male validation, putting anyone down to uplift herself, and destroying anyone she seems as undeserving of attention.

Daniela Leon nails such an antagonistic, volatile character and her performance is as frustrating as it is admiring. She doesn’t hold back nor does she let a moment goes by without asserting Becca’s corrupted mind. It’s an incredible display of talent that you wouldn’t mind seeing everyday.
